The calm before the storm

Twas the night before rain and no one could see throughout their windows.
The fog was too thick to see through, many of the houses were locked and no one was seen.
A knock at a door, no wait, two more. An unanswered door leaves suspicion.
The door knob shakes it's way to unlocking itself to show the person behind it.
Twas the night of pain and no one could see or hear a thing.
The woman who opened her door noticed not one of her roommates were in sight.
She dropped her bag and her keys on the table.
Taking one step closer to what's hiding from her, she takes a step back to get her phone.
Two steps forward and the pain came thrashing to her as if it should be a dream.
Awakening she notices the blood dripping from her head.
The one that got away, a harmless burglar, who just turned into an assaulter.
So on that day of fog and pain before the rain, the woman took a look outside her window.
To her surprise she saw a cloaked man looking back to his former victim of the night.
